IN MY CRAFT OR SULLEN ART BY DYLAN THOMAS.

It's huge! We finished it last night and had a lot of fun jumping on the letters. The poem was shown at the British Library this morning, and it will be at the Royal Festival Hall tomorrow. (Thursday) You can also hear about it on BBC 's Poetry Please.

In My Craft or Sullen Art

In my craft or sullen art

Exercised in the still night

When only the moon rages

And the lovers lie abed

With all their griefs in their arms,

I labour by singing light

Not for ambition or bread

Or the strut and trade of charms

On the ivory stages

But for the common wages

Of their most secret heart.

Not for the proud man apart

From the raging moon I write

On these spindrift pages

Nor for the towering dead

With their nightingales and psalms

But for the lovers, their arms

Round the griefs of the ages,

Who pay no praise or wages

Nor heed my craft or art.

You can see the poem at the Royal Festival Hall today and I think, on the television tonight. It will be part of the BBC's end of the poetry season.

thank you prick your finger gals for getting it all together. i had great fun knitting my M and sewing the Moon with my knitty sisters. hope to see it in all its glory one day

A big thankyou from me too. I really enjoyed making my H and imagining all of the other knitters around the world working on their letters. Wish I was in the UK to see the poem - perhaps it will tour Australia one day :-)

Your H was much valued, we'll get a full picture at some point and then you can find it. If you want it to come to Australia, just ask, because the P Soc are up for it touring, so spread the seed! x
