HABERDASHING STREET NAMES.

What I love about Tuesday mornings, is finding out what Louise did on Monday, our day off!
For a while now, whilst out on the town, we have both been spotting haberdashery street names. It's an exciting game, imagining our streets full of people making gorgeous things. If you live near a haberdashery name, we'd love to hear from you.

there's Lamb St, in Spitalfields. Might have been some lambswool there.

Does Leather Lane count?

Hi Rachael :) 'Threadneedle Street' is a euphemism - the area was originally a hotbed prostitution, and the coy reference to needle threading was considered more polite than the street's original name, Gropec*nt Lane! Mim

Hi Mim,

Oh gosh that is so interesting, yes, because I think Peter Ackroyd says that it's a reference from the bible, if you can get a camel through the eye of a needle? I can't find the quote, but do you know anything about that?
