PETE'S STRANGE TOOL.

Can any of you tell us what this tool is for?
Pete brought it in the other day, thinking it was something for threading a needle.
Pete's friend found it in her father's drawer after he passed away.
It was made in East Germany, and has a flip out magnifying glass. A bullet shaped point thing and a bit with a fishing wire loop on the end, both of which fit into the main shaft.
Any ideas?

Dad thinks it might be a plumb line and centre punch for marking things when you are building!!

Terry what could the magnifying glass be for? It makes close things bigger but I don't know how you could use it for the big distances in building?

he thinks that might be for seeing where you made your marks with the centre punch thingy....
does the fish wire pull out or is it a short loop?

I wonder if it is a fly tying kit, the magnifying glass seems to be important and if it folds away it might be a portable kit to tie your fish flies when out on the riverbank!

Yes, fish flies came to my mind, too.
